What makes you keep coming back to PSO / what makes the game so special?

Pretty much 100% nostalgia for me.  Started playing V1 on Dreamcast when I was a teenager.  First real experience of online gaming (couldn't get into Chu Chu Rocket online as much with all the input lag from my 33.6k modem)

I dropped off after upgrading to V2 until discovering private servers about 4 years ago.  Not the most hardcore player so I generally solo while watching stuff on youtube/listening to music.  I guess I find it relaxing and gives me something to do rather than just passively consuming media.

All of the QoL changes to remove the more excessive grinds have been whats kept me coming back when I have some down time.
